Emergency crews responded Monday evening around 5:45pm to a crash on Northshore Parkway near Pelahatchie Bay after a caller said a vehicle had struck a bridge and overturned onto its side, according to a dispatch transcript.
A subsequent radio transmission placed responders on the causeway, where firefighters were working to free a female driver. Responders also closed access from North Shore to both sides of the causeway during the response.
Later transmissions described a possible leg injury to the driver and indicated that hospital transport was likely.
A responder also requested that maintenance personnel be notified of damage to barriers on the bridge that would require repairs.
The cause of the crash and the time the roadway reopened have not been confirmed. These preliminary details are based on a dispatch transcript and have not been independently verified with the responding agency.
