A large law enforcement presence drew attention near the intersection of Spillway Road and Causeway Drive on Monday morning as state and local officers conducted operations at businesses across the metro area, including near the reservoir.
Officers and numerous state and county police vehicles were seen at Exxon, Polk’s Drugs, and Vape Empire. The purpose of the activity at each location has not been confirmed, and the presence of officers does not establish that a business was suspected of wrongdoing.
When asked about the activity, an Exxon employee pointed to an empty vape and CBD display case but declined to comment further. An eyewitness reported seeing officers enter Vape Empire carrying cardboard boxes. The shop closed early, and an employee locking the door also declined to comment.
The agencies involved have not released details about the purpose or scope of the operation, whether any items were seized, or whether any arrests were made or charges filed. Those unanswered questions leave the connection between the activity at the reservoir businesses and other metro-area locations unclear.
