Pearl River Valley Water Supply District has completed water line repairs in Harborview, but all addresses in the neighborhood are under a boil water notice. The affected neighborhood is located off Spillway Road near the Ross Barnett Reservoir.
The notice is expected to remain in effect until at least November 3, 2026. Residents should continue following boil water precautions until PRVWSD officially lifts the notice. Reaching that date does not automatically mean the water is safe to drink.
Until the notice ends, use bottled water or properly boiled tap water for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, washing produce, preparing beverages, and making ice. Bring tap water to a full rolling boil for at least one minute, then let it cool before use. Store cooled water in clean, covered containers.
A few everyday precautions can help keep your household safe:
- Skip the refrigerator water dispenser and ice maker. Most household water filters, including pitcher and refrigerator filters, do not make water safe during a boil water notice.
- Check your ice supply. Discard ice made with tap water during the advisory and use ice made from bottled or properly boiled water.
- Use safe water for pets, too. Fill their bowls with bottled water or boiled water that has cooled.
- Take care with infant formula. Ready-to-feed formula is an option that avoids mixing with water. If using powdered or concentrated formula, follow your pediatrician’s guidance for safe preparation.
- Avoid swallowing water while bathing. Adults can generally shower, but use extra care with young children. Sponge baths can help prevent them from swallowing water.
- Make dishwashing simpler. Disposable plates and utensils can reduce the need to wash dishes while the notice is in effect.
Normal water pressure or clear-looking water does not confirm that it is safe to drink. Residents should watch for updates from PRVWSD and continue using boiled or bottled water until the district announces that the notice has been lifted.
