Rankin County residents have until October 5 to register to vote in the November 3, 2026, general election, according to a reminder from the Rankin County Circuit Clerk’s Office. Polls will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with absentee voting beginning September 21.
Preparing for the election includes checking registration information, locating the correct polling place and reviewing the races on the ballot. The Mississippi Secretary of State’s elections website provides access to registration verification, sample ballots and information about polling locations and absentee voting. Reviewing a sample ballot in advance gives voters time to research candidates and the responsibilities of the offices they are seeking.
The county’s reminder lists 5 p.m. Monday, October 5, as the deadline for in-person voter registration. Mailed registrations must be postmarked by that date. Residents with questions about their registration or absentee voting eligibility can contact the Circuit Clerk’s Office before the deadlines arrive.
To provide additional access ahead of the election, the office will open from 8 a.m. to noon on October 3, October 24 and October 31. October 31 is the final day to vote absentee in person. The county reminder also identifies October 24 as the deadline for completed Federal Post Card Applications from military and overseas voters.
According to the reminder, absentee ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before November 3 and received by the Circuit Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. November 10. Voters using this option should account for mailing time when planning their ballot return.
The Rankin County Circuit Clerk’s Office is located at 215 E. Government Street in Brandon. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For assistance with registration, absentee voting or election deadlines, call 601-825-1466.
