Controlled Burn Scheduled Today Near Spillway Road at Pearl River Reservoir

Pearl River Water Supply District staff will conduct a controlled burn today at the PRV Maintenance Shop. The shop sits on Spillway Road, east of Old Fannin Road, near the northwest end of the reservoir.

You will likely see smoke near the shop and along Spillway Road. The burn will take place on district property away from homes and businesses.

Smoke may be visible for several hours, especially in the morning and early afternoon. Traffic on Spillway Road and nearby residential streets could notice reduced visibility at times. There is no threat to homes or public safety from this operation.

District staff use these controlled burns to manage vegetation and reduce wildfire risks on their property. Firefighters will be present and will monitor the burn for safety.

If you notice smoke or smell burning near Spillway Road today, it is part of this scheduled maintenance activity. The district expects to finish the burn by late afternoon. If conditions change or the schedule shifts, the district will update the community.
