In June, the Pearl River Valley Water Supply District (PRV) Board approved a plan to cut and remove dead trees along Spillway Road from Beaver Run to Highway 471. The project also included removing dead trees at the Reservoir Botanical Gardens near the Natchez Trace.
The board selected the contractor who submitted the lowest bid. That contractor has now informed PRV that he cannot take on the job at this time.
After meeting with attorneys, PRV decided to reopen the bidding process. This gives other contractors a chance to submit bids and keeps the project on track.
Residents living near Spillway Road and the Botanical Gardens will continue to see dead trees in these areas until a new contractor is hired. The district has not set a new timeline yet but plans to rebid the project soon.
PRV states that clearing these trees remains a priority. The district will provide updates as new information becomes available. Leaseholders near Spillway Road and the Botanical Gardens can expect more details when the rebidding process is complete.
